The AI Literacy Score
Is your team ready to use AI well?
A team assessment of how your organization uses AI today: whether it's aimed at the right work, used responsibly, backed by good data and tools, and supported by the skills and culture to make it stick. Everyone answers anonymously, and you get a clear score and the strengths and gaps behind it.
- 50rating statements
- 7factors
- 0–500score
- 100%anonymous
Example statement
People
My teammates can tell when an AI output is wrong, incomplete, or made up
Everyone rates 50 statements like this one about the group they work in.
Seven factors behind the score
Each factor has seven statements, and each contributes up to 70 points to the 500-point score, so you can see exactly where your team's ability to use AI is strong and where it's held back.
Purpose
Are we using AI where it genuinely helps us deliver value?
Ethics
Are we using AI responsibly, fairly and openly?
Data
Is the information behind our AI tools accurate, protected and traceable?
Technology
Do we have reliable, approved AI tools that fit how we work?
People
Do our employees have the skills and judgment to use AI well?
Process
Is AI built into how we work, with the right checks around it?
Culture
Do we encourage thoughtful experimentation with AI?
Choose what your team answers
The rating statements are the core. Add any of the other sections to go further.
Always included
Rating statements
50 statements rated 0 to 10, producing the overall score, the factor scores and the full statement-by-statement picture.
Optional
Knowledge check
15 multiple-choice questions with one right answer each. The report compares how people rate the team with what they can demonstrate.
Optional
Strengths and barriers
Each person picks the top three strengths and the three biggest barriers, so the report shows what to build on and what's in the way.
Optional
In their own words
One open question about the single step that would help most. Answers are grouped into themes by factor, with quotes in respondents' own words.
A report leaders can act on
Every run produces a leadership report with a written summary of what the numbers say, ready to share as a PDF, plus a CSV of every figure.
Example report
Illustrative data, not a real organization
- The overall score out of 500
- Scores for each of the seven factors
- The top five and bottom five statements, and where opinions differ most
- Results by team, role, region or any group you choose
- Self-rating compared with demonstrated knowledge, when the knowledge check is on
- Themes and quotes from the open question
- Before-and-after comparison when you run it again
Expert review add-on
Ben Jones and the Data Literacy team read your results, walk your leadership team through them, and add tailored recommendations to the report.
New for 2026
The AI Literacy Score applies the seven-factor model proven by the Data Literacy Score to AI. Early reports compare your team with itself, across factors, groups and before-and-after runs, and benchmarks against other organizations will follow as more teams take it.

More than 1,000 people?
Larger organizations, purchase orders and invoicing are handled by quote. Tell us your headcount and timing and we'll reply within one or two business days.
Request a quoteHonest answers, because they're anonymous
People tell the truth about their team when they know it can't be traced back to them.
No individual results
The report shows group figures only. No one's answers are ever shown on their own.
Five-person minimum
By default, any group smaller than five is combined with others or left out, so a small team can't be singled out.
No sign-in
Respondents use one shared link and never create an account or give their name.
Measure before and after training
Run a baseline, train your teams with our workshops and courses, then run it again. The follow-up report shows what changed, factor by factor.
Questions about the AI Literacy Score
What does the AI Literacy Score measure?
Your team's own view of how well it uses AI, scored from 0 to 500 across the same seven factors as the Data Literacy Score, applied to AI: Purpose, Ethics, Data, Technology, People, Process and Culture. An optional knowledge check adds 15 multiple-choice questions on how AI works, where it fails, and how to use it responsibly.
Does this help with EU AI Act Article 4?
Article 4 asks organizations that provide or deploy AI systems to take measures to support AI literacy among their staff. A baseline AI Literacy Score shows where your people stand and where to focus, and a follow-up run documents progress. It's one input to your approach, not legal advice.
Is there a benchmark for the AI Literacy Score?
Not yet. The AI Literacy Score is new, so early reports compare your team with itself: across factors, across groups, and before and after training. Benchmarks against other organizations will follow as more teams take it.
How long does it take each person?
About 10 minutes for the rating statements alone, and about 20 minutes with every section switched on. It works on a phone, and progress is saved on the device, so people can stop and come back.
Are responses anonymous?
Yes. Respondents use one shared link and never sign in, and the report never shows an individual's answers. Results are shown only for groups of at least five people by default. Smaller groups are combined with others, or a breakdown is left out when even that could let someone work out a small group's answers.
Can we see results by department, role or region?
Yes. You can add up to five short questions of your own, such as team, role, region or tenure, and the report breaks results down by each one, subject to the same minimum group size.
Can we measure progress over time?
Yes. Run the AI Literacy Score before a training program and again afterwards, and the report shows the change in the overall score, every factor and the statements that moved most.
What do we receive?
A leadership report you can share as a PDF, plus a CSV of every figure in it. You can add an expert review, where Ben Jones and the Data Literacy team read your results and write tailored recommendations.
How is it priced?
One price for the whole team, by the number of people taking it: $1,000 for up to 25, $2,000 for up to 100, $4,000 for up to 500, $7,500 for up to 1,000. Expert review is an optional add-on, from $3,000. You can buy online by card, and above 1,000 people, or to pay by invoice, ACH or wire, request a quote.
What happens after I buy?
You set it up from your account: give it a name, add any team or role questions you want results broken down by, and choose how long it stays open. Then you share the link we give you, along with a ready-made invitation, and watch responses come in. When it closes, your report is ready on the same page, or, with expert review, as soon as we've added our recommendations.
